Saison, saison, saison

Saison, saison, saison

Here’s a joke for you. There were four men in a sauna. Wait, let’s say two men and two women. No no, let’s take four men, two gay and two straight. And they’re all naked. Hold on, two were muslim and the other two christian. I’m not that good at telling jokes.

It’s how our second brewery tour started off (also read: Geuze, geuze, geuze) and this time around we came across several beautiful beers in the province of Hainaut.

First off, we stopped by Brasserie Dupont, worldfamous for their Moinette, Saison Dupont and their range of organic beers. A quick stop as the brewery was a construction site. Great beers get great demand and so the brewery has to expand.

In other words

I’m always baffled when I hear certain people speak on the news because sometimes they make up these difficult phrases noone understands. Afterwards, you see their smug faces. They think that what they said and how they phrased it makes them look intelligent and more interesting. Alas. It annoys the hell out of me. I’m a no nonsense kind of guy.

Here’s the example from last night’s news: “It is important for those who actively participate in motorized traffic not to cause any drama’s.

Or, in other words, this self declared expert meant: when you drive your car, don’t cause accidents.

Geuze, Geuze, Geuze

Geuze, Geuze, Geuze

We here at Kunstemaecker have always admired micro breweries and their artisan beers. Moreover we only serve Belgian beer in our pub mostly by micro breweries.

We want our customers to have a great experience so we learn whatever we can about the beers we serve. What better way to learn more about them than to visit the very place where their are brewed.

So we decided to visit a couple of geuze breweries near Brussels, without any preparations. I mean, we didn’t even check if the places we wanted to visit were open. Anyway, we got lucky at our first stop, the Girardin Brewery. We weren’t allowed to visit the brewery itself and since Kunstemaecker already sells most of their range, we didn’t wast much time and moved on.

How to check if your beer is cold enough

How to check if your beer is cold enough

Some of the best commercials ever made, are beer commercials. The big beer moguls of this world save no expense to convince us to drink their premium brand. Just think back of all those wonderful Budweiser, Heineken, Sapporo, Carlsberg and Guinness commercials, just to name a few (check the links for some laughs). So how do smaller breweries compete with the big boys? Well, the Breckenridge Brewery, Colorado, for one came up with some interesting ads showcasing their technological superiority.
